Effective ways for controlling shock wave configurations by means of external actions are sought. One such way is a local effect of electric and magnetic fields. In this paper, the local effect of external fields is implemented by current localization in a limited region of a diffuser. The experiment is carried out in a diffuser providing the complete internal compression of the gas with a Mach number at the inlet M=4.3. As a working medium, a xenon plasma is used. The plasma flow is formed in a shock tube equipped with an accelerating nozzle. Two ways of current localization are tested. In the first one, the diffuser inlet is a short channel of Faraday generator type. In this case, the ponderomotive force basically decelerates or accelerates the flow depending on the direction of the electric field. In the second way, the current flows through a narrow near-wall region between adjacent electrodes. In this case, the ponderomotive force compresses or expands the gas. In both cases, it is shown that the angle of an attached shock due to MHD interaction can be both decreased and increased. The central problem with the MHD control of shock waves is near-electrode and near-wall phenomena.  相似文献

We have confirmed biexciton formation in an organic-inorganic hybrid quantum-well material (C4H9NH3)2PbBr4 by photoluminescence and two-photon absorption measurements. The biexciton has extremely large binding energy, 60 meV, which to our knowledge is the largest value ever reported for a semiconductor. By analyzing the spectrum of biexciton luminescence, the biexciton gas temperature was found to be much higher than the bath temperature due to a higher local temperature arising from the large biexciton binding energy.  相似文献

The purpose of this work was to investigate the effects of physical aging on the kinetics of yielding in polycarbonate. PC samples were annealed over a wide range of aging times and temperatures. Both tensile and compressive tests were performed over various loading rates and temperatures to analyze the effects of aging time and aging temperature on yielding kinetics. Two grades of polycarbonate, Makrolon, of different molecular weights, PC-2608 (low Mw), and PC-3208 (high Mw), supplied by Bayer were analyzed. In unaged condition, PC is hard and tough, but after aging, it becomes more brittle. In terms of molecular movement, the yielding process is a thermally activated process involving inter- and intra-molecular motions. The time–temperature dependence of yielding behavior can be separated into two regions. Aging does not affect localized molecular motions of the β process during yielding. Physical aging in PC results in a slower jump rate of the main segments of macromolecules between two equilibrium positions. It reduces the flexibility of the macromolecules and thus, makes the polymer more brittle. Heat aging also causes a decrease of the entropy (ΔS) in polycarbonate, and this decrease is more important when the molecular weight is reduced. Increasing the annealing time and temperature results in a continuous reduction of ΔS. The rate of aging decreases with decreasing annealing temperature and below about 30 °C, no aging takes place. Annealing also strongly affects the excess of enthalpy in PC. However the effect of physical aging on yielding differs to that on enthalpy excess. The kinetics of yielding and aging processes in polycarbonate are also different. An increase in the strain rate does not have the same effect on the yield stress as an increase in the aging time by a same factor.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the smoothness of weak solutions of the three-dimensional stationary Boussinesq system describing steady-state motion of viscous heat-convergent Newtonian fluid whose viscosity may depend on the temperature of the fluid. The principal feature of the system under consideration is the occurrence of the dissipative term in the equation of energy balance. This term is equal to the product of the stress and the strain velocity tensors and has a quadratic growth with respect to the gradient of the velocity field. We prove the partial regularity of solutions to this system and give an estimate of the Hausdorff measure of the singular set. Bibliography: 14 titles.  相似文献

The final state of Au+Au collisions at √s=130 AGeV at RHIC has been reconstructed within the framework of the Buda-Lund hydrodynamical model, by performing a simultaneous fit to final data on twoparticle Bose-Einstein correlations of the STAR and PHENIX Collaboration, and final identified single-particle spectra as measured by the PHENIX Collaboration. The results indicate a strongly three dimensional expansion, with a four-velocity field that is almost a spherically symmetric Hubble flow. We find large transverse geometrical source sizes, R G=9.8±1.2 fm, relatively short mean freeze-out time, τ0=6.1±0.3 fm/c and a short duration of particle emission, Δτ=0.02±1.5 fm/c. Most strikingsly, we find an indication for a hot central part of the hydrodynamically evolving core, characterized by a central temperature T 0=202±13 MeV that is close to (or even above) the deconfinement temperature of the quark-hadron phase transition. The best fit indicates a cold surface temperature T s=110±16 MeV. When the possibility of the hot center is excluded, the confidence level of the fit decreases from 28.9% to 1.0%. Predictions are made for the rapidity dependence of the slope parameters and for the transverse mass depedence of the rapidity width of the single-particle spectra, and the transverse mass dependence of the non-identical particle correlations.  相似文献

An alternative discretization of pressure‐correction equations within pressure‐correction schemes for the solution of the incompressible Navier–Stokes equations is introduced, which improves the convergence and robustness properties of such schemes for non‐orthogonal grids. As against standard approaches, where the non‐orthogonal terms usually are just neglected, the approach allows for a simplification of the pressure‐correction equation to correspond to 5‐point or 7‐point computational molecules in two or three dimensions, respectively, but still incorporates the effects of non‐orthogonality. As a result a wide range (including rather high values) of underrelaxation factors can be used, resulting in an increased overall performance of the underlying pressure‐correction schemes. Within this context, a second issue of the paper is the investigation of the accuracy to which the pressure‐correction equation should be solved in each pressure‐correction iteration. The scheme is investigated for standard test cases and, in order to show its applicability to practical flow problems, for a more complex configuration of a micro heat exchanger. We analyze the gauge ambiguity problem for the effective gravitational field from the standpoint of the measurement process. The motion of a test point particle playing the role of a measuring device is investigated in the field of a point gravitating mass in the one-loop approximation. We show that the gravitational field value determined from the effective equations of motion of the device explicitly depends on the Feynman gauge parameter. This dependence is essential in the sense that a gauge variation cannot be interpreted as a deformation of the reference frame, which leads to a gauge ambiguity in the values of observed quantities. In particular, this result disproves the hypothesis that gauge dependence is canceled in the effective equations of motion of a classical point particle.  相似文献
